2017 Martin Memorial Lectures

* The 2017 Martin Memorial Lectures at the College of Emmanuel and St. Chad will be held Nov. 8-10 featuring Rev. Ray Aldred, director of Indigenous Studies at Vancouver school of Theology speaking on “Turning Back Toward a Shared Story A Faith Dialogue Towards Reconciliation and Healing.” The first lecture will be Wednesday, Nov. 8 at 7:00 pm with compline and refreshments to follow. Thursday, Nov. 9, there will be a workshop with Rev. Aldred from 1:30 - 4:30 pm and the lecture will be at 7:00 pm. Friday, November 10 the lecture will be at 10:00 am with worship to follow. All lectures and the workshop will be held in the Otto Olson Memorial Library, main floor of the Lutheran Theological Seminary, 114 Seminary Crescent, Saskatoon. Compline and the closing worship will take place in the Chapel, also on the main floor. Please make plans to attend.  Parking is available in Pay Lot #4 off of Innovation Blvd. Thanks to the generosity of those who established the Bishop Henry David Martin Memorial Trust, this lecture series is a free event. Marian Movement of Priests Cenacle

* Everyone is welcome to the Marian Movement of Priests Cenacle - all are invited to this Cenacle Holy Hour, which consists of adoration, the rosary, benediction, hymns and various prayers, 8 p.m. Thursday, November 2. 1 at St. Michael's Catholic parish #18-33rd St. E., Saskatoon. Bishop’s Installation Nov. 23Free tickets for Bishop Mark Hagemoen’s Installation on Nov. 23 will be released to the general public through www.picatic.com starting at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 14.

The Installation celebration for Bishop Mark Hagemoen will be held Thursday, Nov. 23 at 7 p.m. at the Cathedral of the Holy Family in Saskatoon. A limited number of free tickets are available to the general public on a first-come, first-served basis. 

Micah Mission AGM

The Micah Mission will be holding its Annual General Meeting on November 6 at 11 AM at its office in the Kinsman Activity Place (226 Ave V S.).  All are welcome.

La P'tite Pasto (Little Hearts Play Group)

 La P’tite Pasto (Little Hearts Play Group) is a French parent-child program for families with preschoolers. Through games, songs, art and crafts, little ones discover the beauty of family, nature, friendship, and are gently introduced to the loving presence of God and to Christian values, all in a spirit of fun and in a language adapted to their age. Children must be accompanied by a French-speaking adult. This monthly program begins Saturday Nov. 4 at 2 p.m. in the basement of the parish of Sts. Martyr-Canadiens, 1007 Windsor Street, Saskatoon. RCIA Parish Workshop

 The RCIA (Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults) is the parish-based process whereby local people join the Catholic Church. Contemplative Mass

* Contemplative Mass will be led by Fr. Kevin McGee  at 7 p.m.  Friday, Nov. 3 at St. Augustine Church, 602 Boychuk Drive, Saskatoon. The rhythm of the Contemplative Mass is a gentle, steady flow, marked by 20 minutes of silence after Communion. It is designated to allow space for reflection and recognition of the intimate presence of Christ who comes to us through scripture and the Eucharist. Silence within this form of worship can feel uncomfortable or awkward, especially when experienced for the first time. We encourage you to relax and rest in the abiding presence of God.

29th Annual Michael Keenan Memorial Lecture

* 29th Annual Michael Keenan Memorial Lecture:  The 2017 Guest Lecturer is Dr. Eric McLuhan, who will be speaking on "Catholicism and Communication: The Sensus Communis, Synesthesia, and the Soul" at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 2 at Fr. O'Donnell Auditorium, St. Thomas More College, 1437 College Drive, U of S Campus, Saskatoon. An internationally-known and award-winning lecturer on communication and media, Dr. McLuhan has over 40 years experience. Having worked closely for many years with his father, the late Marshall McLuhan, he has also been deeply involved in exploring media ecology and communications, with his research and insights published in books, magazines and journals. The annual Keenan Lecture honours the memory and achievements of STM's first Dean, Dr. Michael Keenan.

Commemoration: 500th Anniversary of The Reformation - join our Christian community as we gather together for a special celebration at 3:00 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 29, 2017 at the Cathedral of the Holy Family, 123 Nelson Road, Saskatoon, SK., followed by a reception.Watch Live hereBACKGROUND:2017 marks the 500th anniversary of the beginning of the Reformation.This anniversary offers the Christian family a special opportunity to look back and reflect on the last five hundred years of history in thanksgiving and in confession – recognising our errors, seeking mutual forgiveness, and rejoicing in those efforts we have made toward mutual understanding and respect. This anniversary also encourages us to examine our current context and to look to the future in an effort to find avenues where we can more fully witness together to our common faith in Christ, to work toward Christian unity and work together for the world.The diocese of Saskatoon will commemorate this anniversary alongside our Christian brothers and sisters with an ecumenical worship service to be held at 3:00 p.m. on October 29th, 2017 at the Cathedral of the Holy Family.Leading up to the service, we also invite Christians in Saskatoon and the surrounding areas to study and dialogue about the Reformation using ‘Together in Christ’, a 5-session study series prepared by the Evangelical Lutheran Church in Canada (ELCIC) and the Canadian Conference of Catholic Bishops (CCCB). The first session will be held Wednesday, September 20th at Zion Lutheran Church. The remaining four sessions will be offered twice a week: at a hosting church in the city during the week; and at Queen’s House Retreat and Renewal Centre on Saturday mornings from 9:30 am - 12:00 pm.

Ecumenical Syrian Refugee Fundraiser

 The Ecumenical Syrian Refugee Committee is sponsoring a Monster Mash Wine and Cheese Halloween Dance at St. Canadien Martyr’s Parish Hall, Saskatoonon Saturday October 28th, 2017. Music by “Slightly off Centre” (60’s, 70’s and 80’s band music.  Tickets $25.00 per person. 8 p.m.-11 p.m.  Light lunch will be served.Costumes are optional, prizes for best costumes.  Tickets available at St.Anne’s Parish, Resurrection Lutheran Church and St. Canadien Martyr’s Parish.

Couples for Christ: Christian Life Program for Saskatoon area

Couples for Christ presents a Christian Life Program, building the church of the home, building the church of the poor. The Christian Life Program (CLP) has two basic purposes: Evangelization and Spiritual Renewal. CLP is an integrated course leading into a renewed understanding of God's call to us as Christians. The first modules present the absolute basics of Christian life. The second module helps Christians commit their lives in a serious way to Jesus.
